Overview
For a few weeks each summer the highland roads open, and the interior of Iceland becomes reachable. It is empty: no towns, no trees, only rhyolite mountains streaked in colour, black sand deserts and hot springs in the middle of nowhere.
Your driver-guide's super-jeep is built for it, with giant tyres and the experience to read every river crossing.
